Taupo Academy of Dance has a diverse range of classes to suit every dancer
BABYRINAS
ages 2.5-5
This curriculum focuses on developing fundamental motor skills, spatial awareness, imagination and expression throughout movement. It provides an outlet for children's innate need to move and offers the opportunity to develop creative responses to music. The children build confidence, learn manners, discipline, and basic ballet technique. With the integration of props our Babyrina class will be sure to foster a love of dance in your child.
BALLET
ages 5 and over
NZAMD & RAD
Classes designed specifically for the age and ability of the child. Fun, innovative exercises designed to inspire imagination, rhythm, body and spatial awareness. Both the NZAMD and the RAD stress the importance of every student having an achievable goal. There are many benefits to children attending ballet class such as physical and mental confidence, good posture, enhanced language and communication skills and developing discipline and social interaction.
JAZZ
ages 5 and over
NZAMD
Fun classes designed to teach students the highest level of Jazz technique according to their ability. Dancing the latest styles to the most current music that students can relate to. Examinations are taken in the New American Jazz Syllabus, which has been carefully devised by Keith Clifton and other highly skilled teachers and choreographers.
CONTEMPORARY
Open Ages
NZAMD
Contemporary dance is valuable to any dancers training as it is very individualistic and expressive. It provides the opportunity for students to explore new ways to move and express themselves through dance and to develop skills and strength.
HIP HOP
ages 5 and over + boys only class
NZAMD

LYRICAL
Lyrical dance is a fusion of Ballet with Jazz and Contemporary dance techniques. It is a style of dance that is soft and expressive. Lyrical inspires choreographers and dancers to use movement to interpret music/lyrics, express emotion and tell a story.
PRIVATE CLASSES
Private lessons are available for competition dances or extra lessons for syllabus work and exam preparation.
COMPETITIONS
Individual and group choreography and lessons are available for competition dances. Please speak with your teacher.
The Troupe classes, both Intermediate and Senior are by invitation only and are for our most dedicated dancers.
